WHETHER IT WAS A POLITICAL ACT OR A FIREBUG is uncertain, but one of Tracy Barnes' political "signs" was set ablaze on Sunday. The property owner had a sprinkler run out to make sure it didn't just "spontaneously combust" again! Barnes is running for state representative in District 3. The primary is Tuesday, July 27.

More than 700 craftsman and artist had booths at the Tulsa Affair of the Heart. One of the artist lives right here in Poteau. She is also known as the "Okie Artist" and specializes in caricatures. You never know where you will see Teresa Farrington next. Last week it was Tulsa, the previous week Branson. Haylee Billingsley, also of Poteau, is having a lady bug painted on her face by Teresa. House candidates are personal, but not fiery, at political forum

If you were looking for fireworks at Thursday’s Political Forum in Poteau among the candidates for State House District 3, you were disappointed. Aside from a couple of unnecessary microphone switch-offs, the overall tone was civil.

However, that did not mean that the event was not helpful.

Six of the seven candidates for House District 3 participated in the forum held at Poteau’s Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center. The candidate who could not attend, David Hogan, sent his regrets for a prior engagement in Washington, D.C.,
